Singing Fundamentals

Course Outline:

Classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced singers, and each session will give vocal diagnostics, a fun workout and performance opportunity.

Students learn a set of exercises that can form the basis of a personal practice for life.

Session 1:

Introductions within the group. Why do we sing? Want or need? 
What makes it sound bad, good or better?
Exploration of phonation and vowel shapes. 
Emotional sounds
Exercises 1 & 2 
Group Toning exercise.  Discussion of class structure and homework.

Session 2:

Vocal warm up routine; the Body and the Voice
Jaw and Tongue 
Exercises 1& 2; introducing 3.
Group song with individual breakouts.
Demonstration of individual vocal mechanic work.

Session 3:

Warm up exercises
Let's breathe correctly.
Loosen up with laughter.  Use of the Hum.
Exercises 1, 2, 3 & introducing 4.
Group song 
Individual volunteers

Session 4:

Warm up exercises.
Air control 
Focus on diaphragm
Exercise 1, 2, 3, 4 & introducing 5.

Session 5:

Dynamic variance

Round singing

Session 6:

Exploring resonance and air : Vocal placement

Toning through the Chakras

About the Tutor:

Trained in the French Conservatorium system, Robin has sung professionally for over thirty years. Her singing teaching will give you the skills and awareness to develop your voice, improve your confidence and refine your sound with immediate results.
