Course Outline:

Come and try out your musical potential on the harp and realise your long-standing dream of “I’ve always wanted to play the harp”! In a relaxed and happy 5 week course we cover the basics of technique and will play solo and ensemble music together including, classical, Celtic and jazz.

Small sized harps are available for hire during the 5 weeks to allow for at home practice.

What to Bring:

Additional $100 Harp Hiring fee and $250 refundable deposit bond fee both payable to tutor in the first lesson. The deposit bond will be refunded in the last lesson if returned in good order

About the Tutor:

Louise Johnson has a passion for the harp which she would be delighted to share with you. Louise teaches harp at the Sydney Conservatorium, the ANU and privately. Principal Harp of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 1985-2019 she studied at Sydney Conservatorium and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Over 50 years performing as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. Former Principal Harp of the Queensland Symphony. Former Guest Principal and 2nd harp of the London Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic and all the Australian and New Zealand Symphonies and Opera and Ballet Orchestras, Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Australia Ensemble. Played all genres of music and has worked with numerous greats from Lorin Maazel and Claudio Abbado to Sammy Davis Junior and the Bee Gees. She has given live radio and television broadcasts around the world and was a regular solo artist on the popular Australian TV shows, the Mike Walsh Show and the Ray Martin Show and appeared on the Australian Series of The Two Ronnies. Currently Music Director of Roseville Music Club, Patron of the Harp Society of NSW and founder/director of Harp Holiday and the Sydney Harp School.
