Coronavirus (COVID-19) - A notice to all staff and students

Updated Monday 26 July 2021

Updates

As a result of the recent COVID outbreak in Sydney, in accordance with NSW Health requirements, all College Campuses are currently closed. Our Admin team and Training Coordinators are still available to answer all queries about our Term 3 program. Please phone us on 9970 1000 or email enquiries@nbmc.nsw.edu.au. Training Coordinators can also be contacted directly by email, click here for a list of our Coordinators and their email addresses.

Many courses scheduled to start this week will commence using Zoom and will have the option to change to classroom based once possible. Some have already started including those courses resuming from Term 2 – notifications have been sent to enrolled students. If you have enrolled in a Term 3 course, please check your emails regularly for updates.

We will of course continue to monitor the situation and follow NSW Health guidelines to ensure the safety of all College staff and students. Please phone us on 9970 1000 or email enquiries@nbmc.nsw.edu.au to chat to us about your options if you wish to enrol in a course.

On Campus study during COVID-19

Additional safety measures are being taken at College Campuses to help protect everyone on site. These include:

  • Additional cleaning measures
  • Reduced class sizes to allow for social distancing
  • Provision of hand sanitiser and wipes to encourage regular hand hygiene
  • Regular wiping of frequently used surfaces

Please help with these safety measures:

  • Do NOT attend College if you have any respiratory symptoms, however mild, or are feeling unwell, or are awaiting COVID-19 test results or have been in a COVID hotspot (as defined on the NSW Health website) within the past 14 days.
  • If you notify the College that you have been experiencing respiratory symptoms and will not be attending class, please provide us with a negative COVID test result before returning to classes.
  • Regularly clean your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Practice cough etiquette (keep away from other people, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and clean your hands.
  • Practice recommended social distancing.
  • We suggest that you bring a mask to wear when at the College.

Term 3

We hope that Term 3 will commence the week beginning Monday 26 July. If lockdown is continuing as many courses as possible will offer the option of virtual classroom attendance.

The Term 3 brochure and full course details are available on our website. Some short government funded workskills courses are yet to commence. See Skilling for Recovery Short Courses for details.

Most Diploma and Certificate courses are available fee free for eligible individuals under Skilling for Recovery/Jobtrainer funding. If you are unemployed (with or without a benefit), aged 16-24 (working or not) or at risk of unemployment you can retrain or upskill at no cost. See Skilling for Recovery for details.

The NSW Government has also provided funding for a range of other fee free short courses to help improve work skills or retrain for a new career under ACE Funding. These will be available to eligible individuals – see ACE Funding for details.

COVID-19

We are registered with the NSW Government as a COVID Safe business and have implemented the Service NSW QR Code check-in system at all NBMC Campuses – the same system used in hospitality venues. External course venues will have their own check in system. Please ensure that you check in every time you visit the College in case contact tracing is required.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow advice from NSW Health to ensure we are continuing to respond appropriately to the current health situation.

Please be assured that the health, safety and well being of our staff and students is our highest priority.

Further COVID-19 information and updates are available via the NSW Health website here.
