Plan and Conduct Group Activities overview

You will also learn how to facilitate the group activities utilising effective communication and interpersonal skills. By completing this course you can confidently add this great asset to your resume and current working skills.

 

What you need to know about this course

  • Attendance is in person at a college Campus.
  • The course is delivered using a blended learning model which includes timetabled classroom attendance, flexible directed self-study hours.
  • Students will need to allow some additional hours between sessions for directed self-study and/or the completion of learning and assessment tasks.
  • The course is delivered by our qualified and industry experienced trainer/assessor.
  • One unit of competency is delivered during this course: CHCGRP002 Plan and conduct group activities
  • Applicants must be comfortable working in a group environment, and able to participate fully and equally in all group-based activities and assessments, as the course is entirely focused on planning and facilitating group work.

The course is delivered in the College’s fully equipped training room by our qualified and industry experienced trainer/assessor.

Please note: Reliable internet and a computer is essential to access course resources and completion of assessment work.

The resources for this course will be delivered via our NBMC online learning management system. Students will receive instructions on how to use the LMS prior to the course commencement. Once access to the course resources is provided, students can access them electronically via their personal laptop. Students enrolling must have access to the following:

  • A laptop / computer
  • The internet
  • Access to Microsoft WORD or similar (if you do not have access to Word please click here for some alternatives).

Students will be required to bring a laptop to class to access their course resources and commence assessment work.

 

Are there Assessments?

  • Competency based assessment of each unit of competency in the course will be conducted through a mix of assessment methods which may include short answer questions, group projects and major project.
  • You will receive clear assessment instructions, and an opportunity will be provided for resubmission of assessments if required.

 

Pathway to Further Training

This unit may be included in a range of qualifications from the Community Services or Health Training Packages. If enrolling in one of those qualifications in the future, you will receive credit transfer for the unit completed in this course.

  • A telephone or personal meeting may be required with our Training Coordinator who will provide course information and answer your questions to ensure this is the right course for you before you enrol.
  • Unique Student Identifier (see information below).
  • Enrolling students may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Quiz and/or Digital Skills Questionnaire to confirm suitability for the course and identify any support needs. If you have not previously completed an AQF Certificate III or higher in Australia, an NBMC LLN Quiz may be required. For short courses involving electronic resources or digital participation, you may also need to complete the Digital Skills Questionnaire.
  • Applicants must be comfortable working in a group environment, and able to participate fully and equally in all group-based activities and assessments, as the course is entirely focused on planning and facilitating group work.

    As part of this course you will be completing the accredited unit:

    • Plan and conduct group activities (CHCGRP002)

    On successful completion of the assessment tasks associated with this unit, a Statement of Attainment will be issued.

     

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – is a means of measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Any student who believes they may be eligible for RPL must apply for this at least two weeks prior to the course commencing. If you apply after the course commences it may not be accepted.

    From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

    Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence (eg passport or driver’s licence) used when creating your USI, eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used. Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia. Please contact the College on 9970 1000 if you require assistance

    This course is delivered once a week for 3 weeks.
