Overview

The program is part of the 2024–2028 National Skills Agreement, a major Commonwealth–State partnership to strengthen vocational education and training. NSW delivers the Foundation Skills component through community colleges and other approved RTOs.

Program Purpose

  • Improve adult literacy, numeracy, and digital capability
  • Support people facing barriers to employment or training
  • Provide pathways into VET qualifications, work, or community participation
  • Ensure training is accessible, flexible, and locally responsive

The program offers fee free training (to eligible applicants) in a range of foundation skills including reading and writing; numeracy; digital literacy (computers, smartphones, online safety etc) and other employability skills.
