The program is part of the 2024–2028 National Skills Agreement, a major Commonwealth–State partnership to strengthen vocational education and training. NSW delivers the Foundation Skills component through community colleges and other approved RTOs.
The program offers fee free training (to eligible applicants) in a range of foundation skills including reading and writing; numeracy; digital literacy (computers, smartphones, online safety etc) and other employability skills.

You must be:
a) an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident, or a New Zealand citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder or a partner visa holder whose sponsor is a humanitarian visa holder, or is an eligible asylum seeker, and
b) be aged 15 years or older, and
c) live or work in NSW, and
d) no longer be at school or equivalent (except for registered home school students).
If you can answer Yes to the above and you have low level employment, language, literacy or digital skills that are holding you back from employment opportunities, then talk to us about NSA funded training. Those courses with the may be available for fee free training under National Skills Agreement (NSA) funding. (We’ll ask you to complete a short pre‑course activity to help us make sure the course is right for you.)
