Course Outline
Have you ever wanted to get outdoors and enjoy a hike in the bush but don't know how? Learn bushcraft skills that will enahnce your confidence to get you outdoors and enjoy our wonderful bushlands. This workshop includes methods and techniques for preparation, navigation, plant and animal identification, risk assessment as well as creative ways for you to enjoy the most of your experience outdoors. Topographic Maps: Plant and Animal Identification: Hazards: Dangerous animals, risk assessment of terrain, weather forecasts and evacuation procedures. Introduction to the Workshop.
Bushwalk planning, equipment, safety and goal setting for bushwalking in Sydney.
Topographic maps. Use geographic tools to navigate and develop local knowledge and skills for navigating in bushland.
Plant and animal identification. Basic knowledge development of local flora and fauna species.
Hazards Dangerous animals, risk assessment of terrain, weather forecasts and evacuation procedures
Fieldcraft Tie three specific knots and where to use them.

About the Tutor
Alan Toner is a return from active service army veteran, qualified high school teacher as well as the founder of EcoWalks Tours. Alan is a trusted tour guide who facilitates bush walking tours and multiple day hikes throughout the year across multiple National Parks within the Sydney region.
