John Wells was born in England, and studied fine art at Rochester and Brighton Colleges of Art, attaining in 1975 a Masters degree from Reading University. He then followed a twenty five year career as a professional stage, TV and screen actor, before becoming a successful mural and trompe l’oeil artist, both in the UK and Australia, where he has lived since 1997.

In 2003 John began teaching art in Sydney, and presently conducts watercolour and drawing classes at Northern Beaches & Mosman College. John began writing his first novel, The Durra Durra Trilogy, in 2003, and currently has six novels published at Amazon, with a seventh on the way.
