Are your keyboard skills slowing you down? In this accredited course you will learn how to touch type and become more efficient. Speed tests are included in this course. With a final speed test to determine your words per minute.
During this course the following topics will be covered:
To maximise the benefits from this course it is recommended that students practice the skills being taught a minimum of 4-6 hours per week between classes. If you do not have a keyboard at home, access to a computer at the Narrabeen Campus is available. Please check with the admin office as to available hours. Includes 1 year subscription to Type-quick.
Are there Assessments?
As this course delivers skills from a nationally recognised unit of competency, assessments are included. The assessment comprises a a practical assessment completed in class and a short answer theory question sheet. A Statement of Attainment will be issued on satisfactory completion of the assessments.
As part of this course you will be completing the accredited unit Use digital technology for short and basic workplace tasks (FSKDIG001)
On successful completion of the assessment tasks associated with this unit, a Statement of Attainment will be issued.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – is a means of measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Any student who believes they may be eligible for RPL must apply for this at least two weeks prior to the course commencing. If you apply after the course commences it may not be accepted.
From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.
Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.
Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.
This course is delivered once a week for 3 weeks.
This course is fully funded for many Australian citizens; permanent residents; New Zealand citizens and Humanitarian Visa Holders under the NSW Government’s Adult & Community Education funding.
