Piano for Beginners

Always wanted to play the piano? This is for you!

This 9 week hands on beginners course will get you reading and understanding music notation and playing piano pieces and chords. During the course you’ll play ‘Lean On Me’ and other faves.

– Read rhythm
– Read notes
– Piano geography
– Play pieces
– Understand chords
– Play songs you know and love!

The music book is $25. This will be invoiced separately and is available to collect locally (recommended) or delivered digitally. All additional materials are free of charge and will be emailed throughout the course.

About the Trainer

Michelle Madder is a composer, teacher, and presenter with over 35 years of experience. She loves helping adults rekindle their passion for piano or achieve a lifelong dream of learning to play. This course is delivered once a week over 9 weeks.

Session 1:

Overview
– the piano keyboard
– music notation
– read and play 5 finger pieces

Session 2:

New notes and rhythms
Adding pieces to your repertoire

Session 3:

Consolidate and add new rhythms and notes
Add more pieces from the book and start understanding chords
Learn to play Beethoven’s ‘Ode To Joy’

Session 4:

Chord bootcamp week
Play well known songs

Session 5:

Work on pieces from last week and adding more to the repertoire

Session 6:

Additional rhythms, notes and pieces

Session 8 – 9:

Finishing up – includes optional solo performance of one piece or song.
