Numeracy and Digital Foundation Skills Overview
This course is designed for students who want to build confidence for work, life, and beyond while developing foundation skills in numeracy and digital capability.

It teaches basic maths for everyday life, including numbers, time, measurements, and money. It also includes practical tasks like budgeting, reading pay slips, and using maths at work and home. You will build digital skills, including using devices, the internet, email, and online services like myGov, safely.

Duration
This course is deliver once a week for 6 weeks.
Fees
This course may be fully funded for many Australian citizens; permanent residents; New Zealand citizens and Humanitarian Visa Holders under either Adult & Community Education (ACE)* funding or the National Skills Agreement** (NSA). To ensure you are enrolled in the correct course, a short interview/pre-course activity may be required. Enrolment/interview days will usually be held at our Brookvale campus Level 1/14 William St, Brookvale.

You must bring proof of citizenship or visa.

*ACE funded training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

**Ensuring Access to Foundation Skills Training is a joint initiative between the Australian and New South Wales governments.
Unique Student Identifier
From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.

someone with a disability or the dependent child, spouse or partner of someone with a disability; or
a recipient of an Applicable Benefit, or a dependent child, spouse or partner of a recipient of an Applicable Benefit (see the table on the ACE Funding page) for a list of Applicable Benefits; or
someone who is experiencing significant hardship as verified by a government agency, medical professional or support agency; or
identify as culturally and linguistically diverse AND my main language, spoken at home, is not English OR my proficiency in English is not of a standard to complete vocational training or employment OR I am experiencing cultural barriers or social isolation; or
a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity; or
Low language, literacy, numeracy and/or digital skills; or
Either
- unemployed
- underemployed (working less than 25 hours per week)
- returning to the workforce after a gap of over 12 months
- looking to reskill or upskill and aged 55 or older or due to unforeseen circumstances e.g. COVID-19 impact, industry closure, recovering from injury and/or mental health issues; or
experiencing significant socio-economic hardship; or
experiencing domestic violence, family violence or coercion or have in the past; or
recovering from drug/alcohol abuse; or
exited or at risk of entering the criminal justice system; or
aged between 15 – 24 years, no longer enrolled in secondary education and at risk of not progressing to further education; or
someone who did not complete Year 12 or equivalent
