Botanical Art in Watercolours

Botanical art is a unique and specialised form of art which portrays an object with precision and details to bring out their realistic beauty. In the class, the participants will learn the techniques of sketching an object proportionately and then pencil shade and use watercolours the right way with light and tone to create depth in an object.

They will also learn the techniques to do detailing in an object to make it look absolutely realistic. This class is suitable for beginners to more experienced students.

Please Bring:

Students are advised to check the status of the class before investing in materials

• A4 Sketchbook – Cartridge Paper
• A4 Pad Arches or equivalent (hot pressed) 300gsm
• White paint palette (if extra colour mixing space is required a white plain china plate is recommended)
• Two small glass water jars
• Kneadable eraser
• Ruler
• Pencils : HB, 2H
• Roll of masking tape
• Knife with blades
• Good quality paper towel for wiping brushes and palette
• Round sable artist quality watercolour brush No. 1, 4 and 6

Watercolour paints:

• Orange Red – Windsor and Newton-Bright red or Cadmium red
• Schmincke – Cadmium red light
• Violet red – Windsor and Newton-Permanent rose
• Schmincke – Magenta
• Orange yellow – Windsor and Newton-Windsor yellow or Cadmium yellow mid Schmincke – Cadmium yellow mid
• Green yellow – Windsor and Newton-Windsor lemon
• Schmincke – Lemon yellow
• Green blue – Windsor and Newton -Windsor blue (green shade)
• Schmincke – phthalo blue
• Violet blue – Windsor and Newton – French ultramarine
• Schmincke – Ultramarine finest
• Paynes Grey – Windsor and Newton/Schmincke

Other shades can be acquired later

(watercolours can only be an artist quality brand) Strictly no shade variations

Some artists may require a magnifying glass but wait till after class starts to discuss with trianer what to buy
