Discover a graceful, joyful way to stay active, improve your health, and elevate your quality of life. This ballet inspired fitness class is designed specifically for individuals over 50, blending the timeless beauty of classical ballet with low-impact conditioning tailored to the needs of a mature body.
No prior dance experience is required, and all skill levels are warmly welcomed.
While this course provides an excellent, full-body workout, it is not a strenuous fitness routine. We omit complex or high-impact choreography, focusing instead on steady, rewarding movements that accommodate your joints and pacing.
Engaging in a regular ballet inspired fitness routine offers profound physical and cognitive benefits:
- Physical Longevity: Significantly improves balance, core strength, and flexibility, which promotes better everyday posture and reduces the risk of falls.
- Cardiovascular & Weight Health: Boosts heart health and aids in gentle weight management.
- Cognitive Sharpness: Stimulates brain function and memory recall as you learn and repeat light movement patterns.
- Community Connection: Connect with like-minded participants in a warm, social environment that fosters a wonderful sense of belonging.
(Please note: Concession discounts are not available for this specialised course).
Course Structure: Your 10-Week Journey
Our progressive curriculum is designed to build your confidence and coordination layer by layer:
- Week 1 (Introduction): Learn foundational ballet exercises and proper technique, focusing on introductory barre and center work.
- Weeks 2–9 (Progression): Build upon your skills week by week. You will practice the same familiar exercises while gradually increasing their length and adding gentle new steps to expand your movement repertoire.
- Week 10 (Culmination): By the final week, you will have developed a wonderful repertoire of steps and sequences (enchainments), allowing you to gracefully dance through the routine with minimal prompting from your instructor.
What to Wear & Bring
Comfort and safety are our priorities. Please come prepared with:
- Footwear: Ballet shoes are preferred (available at any dance supply store). Alternatively, you may wear any soft-soled shoe—leather options are highly recommended for comfort and durability.
- Clothing: Comfortable, stretchable exercise attire suitable for a standard gym or fitness class.
