Traineeships Existing Worker

NEW Fee Free Existing Worker Traineeships

Northern Beaches and Mosman College has been recognised by the Department of Education as a high performing training organisation. It is one of only a few training organisations approved to participate in a pilot program which allows existing workers in the care sector to enrol in a traineeship FEE FREE (saving the employer more than $5,000 in course fees). This program is currently only available for trainees commencing prior to 30 June 2023. It should also be noted that improved Government incentives are available to employers AND incentives are now available for the trainee too!!!

The following qualifications are available to full-time and part-time Existing Workers under this pilot program:

CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support*
CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support*
HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance
CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care
CHC50121 Diploma of Early Education & Care
*Available to facility based employees only.

What is a Traineeship?

A traineeship is a training agreement between an employer and an employee in which the trainee learns practical on the job skills combined with formal learning from an approved training provider for a specific occupation, whilst earning a wage. A traineeship arrangement can be full-time or part-time, with the goal of the trainee successfully completing the relevant assessment criteria to acquire a nationally recognised qualification whilst being supported by their employee.

Traineeship Incentives

Government Incentives payable to employer:

  • 10% of the wages of the trainee, paid for the first 2 years of the traineeship.
  • 5% of the wages of the trainee, paid for the 3rd year of the traineeship.
  • Wage Subsidy Up to $1,500 per quarter (First 2 years), up to $750 per quarter (Third year)

Government Incentives payable to trainee:

  • Employed more than 3 months full-time or 30hrs+ part-time/casual - $1,250 every 6 months (up to $5,000 in total)
  • Employed 12 months permanent part-time/casual* (approx. 20 hrs per week) - $625 every 6 months (up to $2,500 in total)

Eligibility for existing worker traineeship:

  • Employed more than 3 months full-time or 30hrs+ part-time/casual*
  • Employed 12 months permanent part-time/casual* (approx. 20 hrs per week)
  • Please note casual employees can only be offered a traineeship if they are employed on either a permanent part-time or full-time basis.

NOTE: Eligibility conditions do apply to traineeships and all prospective trainees must have this checked by an Apprenticeship Centre.

Government incentives payable to the employer are also assessed by an Apprenticeship Centre using guidelines provided by the Department of Education, Federal Government.

$0 if eligible for an Existing Worker Traineeship.

What Is Involved?

  • Your existing workers can upskill by entering into a traineeship agreement with you for the period determined by the qualification level being studied.
  • As the RTO, we will provide the necessary training using one of the Training Delivery Options set out over the page.
  • The Traineeship Agreement is organised through an Apprenticeship Centre who will also facilitate your government incentive payment claims and advise you on any other rebates that are applicable.

What Training Is Provided?

The content of the training is determined by the requirements of the qualification studied. Elective subjects can be chosen based on the needs of your business.

Training Delivery Options

1. In Your Work Place
The trainee will be assigned an NBMC trainer to visit the trainee in your workplace to provide formal learning and to monitor course progress every four weeks. In addition the NBMC trainer is available between scheduled workplace visits, either via email, telephone or virtual meeting using ZOOM. The trainees employer will be required to appoint a supervisor to support and guide the trainee in daily works and as well as be a workplace mentor to support the trainee should they have any questions. The NBMC trainer will also work closely with the trainees assigned supervisor/mentor.

2. At The College
Structured face to face courses are delivered regularly at the College. Your employee can be signed up as a trainee and then join the next College course that commences.
Customised training can be organised to meet the needs of your business.

How long does a Traineeship take to complete?

A traineeship lasts one to two years depending upon the level of the qualification being completed.
