Tech Savvy Seniors: Stay in Touch using Zoom

Course Outline

Social Isolation doesn’t mean you can’t still stay in touch. Zoom is an easy to use video conferencing tool that you can use on your computer, tablet or phone. You will be able to see, hear and talk to your family, friends and colleagues almost as though they are in the same room!

**The trainer will be there to help you to create your Zoom account using your preferred email address.

About Zoom

Zoom is easy to use video conferencing software with a simple set up.

What you will need to have to continue using Zoom at home

  • Access to a desktopcomputer or an iPad/android tablet or smartphone; and
  • A webcam* so that you can be seen by the trainer; and
  • A microphone* so that you can participate in the class and be heard by the trainer; and
  • A good Internet connection.

*If you have a laptop computer a webcam and microphone is usually built into the top of the screen frame. Smartphones and iPad/ android tablets also contain cameras and microphones built in.

For the first session please come to the Brookvale office computer classroom, to create your Zoom account.   For the second session you will log in using a Zoom link from your home.  

Please bring

  • Notepad and pen
  • You are welcome to bring your own iPad/tablet or laptop to the workshop.

Tech Savvy Senior Funding Eligibility

The TSS program is for seniors aged 60 years and above or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander elders aged 50 years plus.

It is a requirement of this course to provide evidence of eligibility to your trainer on arrival.  If you are unable to do this, you will not be allowed to participate in the class. Please bring to your session your:

* Photo identification plus evidence of date of birth (passport, driver’s licence)

How to enrol

You can enrol online and over the phone using a credit card or come to one of our two venues Brookvale or Narrabeen between 9.30-4.30 to enrol in person. Please note no staff at Brookvale office on Mondays or Fridays.

This training is subsidised through a partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra.
No further concessions apply
