Radio Workshop

The Radio skills Workshop is a fun and engaging introduction to a wide range of radio broadcasting skills, presented by your local community radio station, Radio Northern Beaches. The radio course is aimed at people who are interested in potentially presenting their own weekly show at Radio Northern Beaches, people interested in broadcast media as a career, or anyone looking for a fun and challenging weekend experience!

The day includes sessions covering:

  • What is community radio?
  • The fundamentals of interviewing
  • How to plan and create your radio show
  • Radio drama with the Radio Players
  • The fundamentals of broadcast presentation and panel operation
  • An introduction to digital audio editing
  • Experiential sessions on microphone technique
  • At the end of the day everyone participates in a live to air show!

After completing the workshop, participants are invited to pursue more intensive training with a “mentor” on-air presenter for roughly 8 weeks and then they have the opportunity to apply for a show timeslot, once their proposed show is approved. The only added cost following the workshop is the membership fee and any costs associated with their particular show, such as music cds.

Maximum 16 students per workshop. No pre-requisites. Sorry, no concessions. Light lunch provided.
