Introduction to Canva for social media marketing and home

Get creative using this wonderful free online platform and learn how to create images and video content with Canva - for professionals and hobbyists.

Entrepreneurs, businesses and marketers know how important it is to create fresh content for social media, website and printed collateral, which is what Canva was originally designed for. But it's also a fantastic creative tool for personal use, making your social media accounts look amazing, creating artwork to print or share online with friends and family, or even transforming those scraps of paper with recipes from years gone by into a collection of beautifully printed pages.

In this course we will use the resources within Canva to create graphics and artwork suitable for both online and print. Skills learned in each exercise are designed to get you more familiar and comfortable with the Canva platform.

  • banner images
  • social media posts
  • video posts
  • GIF
  • checklist which can be printed or added to a digital planner
  • business card design suitable to print
  • postcard design suitable to print

No previous experience with the platform is required.

Please sign up for your Canva account before class and bring your log-in details with you. I prefer and recommend using email as your sign-up option rather than through a social media network. It is quick to sign up, though, so if you need help setting up your account, you'll just need an email account and we can do that on the night.

We will be using the FREE Canva software, all of these features are also in Canva Pro but the paid account is not required for this course.

Bring an A4 notebook, a pen and some colour textas or pencils to class for taking colourful notes and brainstorming.
