Traineeship

Need Some Help?

A traineeship is a great opportunity to earn as you learn! It is a training agreement between an employer and an employee during which the trainee learns the skills needed for a particular occupation or trade, whilst earning a wage. It combines time at work with training and can be completed full-time, part-time or while you are still at school.

At the end of the traineeship the trainee will have achieved a nationally recognised qualification. The employer will have an upskilled and valuable employee as well as potentially receiving government incentives from the Federal Government.

Traineeships are available to anyone of working age regardless of their level of education. You can be a school-leaver, re-entering the workforce or an adult worker simply wishing to change careers.

  • What is Involved?

    • The trainee enters into a traineeship agreement with the employer for the period determined by the qualification level being studied.
    • As the Registered Training Organisation, the College will provide the training in the appropriate qualification to the trainee using one of the Training Delivery Options set out below.
    • The Traineeship Agreement is organised through an Apprenticeship Centre who can advise on any other benefits or incentives that are available to trainees and employers.

A traineeship lasts one to two years depending upon the level of the qualification being completed.

  • Delivery Options

Training may be a combination of on-the-job training and formal study. The content of the training is determined by the requirements of the qualification studied. Elective subjects can be chosen based on the needs of the employer’s business.

    Training delivery Options

    IN THE WORKPLACE
If the employer has a minimum of three trainees commencing at the same time, our trainer can come to the workplace and deliver small group training and assessment at a time that is convenient to the business.

    AT THE COLLEGE
Structured face to face courses are delivered regularly at the College. Once the trainee is signed up to the traineeship contract they can join the next College course that commences.

    ONE ON ONE
For new entrant trainees, regular visits to the workplace will be made by our trainer to support the trainee in his or her learning and to monitor their progress. Email and phone support will also be available between visits.
