Thinking about a career as a nursing assistant or an allied health assistant but not quite ready to commit to a full qualification? This fee free nationally accredited short course will provide an introduction to understanding and working in the health services industry. Upon successful completion of this short course you may choose to immediately continue your studies to complete either a nursing assistant (HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance) or allied health assistant course (HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance).

Assessments are made against units of competency.
As part of this course you will be completing the accredited units:
CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services (C )
BSBMED301 Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately (C )
CHCCCS020 (CE ) Respond effectively to behaviours of concern (C )
On successful completion of the assessment tasks associated with this unit, a Statement of Attainment will be issued.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – is a means of measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Any student who believes they may be eligible for RPL must apply for this at least two weeks prior to the course commencing. If you apply after the course commences it may not be accepted.
From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.
Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence (eg passport or driver’s licence) used when creating your USI, eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used. Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. This short course provides a pathway to completing the HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance. Completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance will allow you to work as a nursing assistant in a variety of health care settings including hospitals and other care facilities. Completion of HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance will allow you to work in a role supporting physios, podiatrists or speech pathologists in a range of settings like hospitals, medical practices, mental health clinics, schools, aged care facilities or in a community health organisation.
