Annaliese Hawkesford

I travelled to Australia from the UK as a backpacker almost 20 years ago and loved it so much on the Northern Beaches that I never left! When I first arrived, I took some time to explore this beautiful country before deciding to settle down and change my profession from event manager to becoming an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher by retraining at the Australian TESOL Centre in Sydney. Since qualifying, I have taught English at language schools both in the city and in Manly and over the years have gained a lot of experience teaching a range of levels, from beginner to proficient, to students from all over the world. I was a senior teacher at Kaplan International in Manly for several years where I taught classes for the Cambridge University First Certificate in English (FCE exam) and also became a speaking examiner for the Cambridge University Certificate. I am passionate about creating fun, engaging and practical lessons in a class environment where my students feel comfortable learning, sharing and building their confidence in using the English language.
