Introduction to First Aid (Non Accredited)

This course is designed for students who wish to build confidence for work, life and beyond while learning foundation skills in first aid. Ideal for beginners, it focuses on practical techniques for responding to everyday emergency situations.

In a supportive learning environment, you’ll gain essential knowledge and hands-on experience, helping you feel prepared to act calmly and safely when it matters most.

WHAT WILL I LEARN

• How to assess an emergency situation quickly and safely
• How to perform CPR
• How to use a defibrillator (AED)
• Basic bandaging techniques
• Help with sickness (asthma, allergy, diabetes, seizure)
• Treat injuries (bleeding, burns, broken bones)
• Help with heat, cold, bites, poisoning
• Put person in recovery position
• Stay, watch, and report what happened
• When and how to call an ambulance

You must be:

a) an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident, or a New Zealand citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder or a partner visa holder whose sponsor is a humanitarian visa holder, or is an eligible asylum seeker, and
b) be aged 15 years or older, and
c) live or work in NSW, and
d) no longer be at school or equivalent (except for registered home school students).

If you can answer Yes to the above and you have low level employment, language, literacy or digital skills that are holding you back from employment opportunities, then talk to us about NSA funded training.  (We’ll ask you to complete a short pre‑course activity to help us make sure the course is right for you.)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.
