Provide First Aid HLTAID003 - Skilling for Recovery - fee free for Year 12, 2020 School Leavers

This course is available fee free under NSW Skilling for Recovery/Job Trainer funding only for students who completed Year 12 in 2020.

This first aid course is Nationally Recognised and provides participants with the skills necessary not only to be a first aid representative in a workplace but also to help family and friends in emergency situations. This unit (Provide First Aid – HLTAID003) describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Please note: to complete this unit satisfactorily you must be able to perform basic life support skills and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). If you have a disability that would prevent you from performing the required basic life support skills you are advised that you will not be able to achieve the unit of competency.

Please arrive in plenty of time as no admission to the course will be allowed after 9.15am. No transfer or refund will be provided in these circumstances.

Online Theory Completion – Before Course Starts

All students will have to complete an online theory course component as a prerequisite to completing the practical session. Students must complete the online theory before the class date – this will take approximately 3 hours. If students fail to complete this, they will not be eligible to attend the practical day. When you enrol for the course you will be sent login details to complete the theory section online (note: if you have not received your login at least one week prior to the course date, please check your junk mail and/or contact the College immediately) - once completed students must print out the Certificate of Completion to hand to their trainer at the beginning of the practical day.

If internet access is an issue please contact the college on 9970 1000. Course fee includes a course manual which will be given to students at the practical day.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.

Eligibility for Subsided Training

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under the Smart & Skilled Training Program. To be eligible you must be

  • an Australian Citizen/Perm Resident/NZ citizen/humanitarian visa holder
  • aged 15 years or older, and
  • live or work in New South Wales, and
  • no longer be at school or equivalent

Eligibility for “Skilling for Recovery” - Free Training

Skilling for Recovery is a NSW Government initiative to deliver JobTrainer funding in NSW. It provides free certificate, diploma and short course training to eligible applicants. If you meet the Smart & Skilled Program eligibility above and you are a Year 12, 2020 School Leaver you can complete this course fee free.
