Victoria De Aboitiz
With over eight years of experience working with clay, I studied Ceramics in Córdoba, Argentina, and continue to develop my practice in my own studio. My approach to ceramics is both exploratory and research-driven, grounded in traditional techniques while embracing contemporary experimentation. I am particularly interested in sourcing and processing raw materials to create unique clay bodies and glazes. This hands-on, earth-based approach reflects a deep engagement with materiality and place.
My work is also influenced by native South American pottery traditions. I recreate ancient sonorous instruments such as flutes, whistling jars, and ocarinas, drawing on the figurative sculptural styles of pre-Columbian cultures. These pieces allow me to explore the intersections between sound, form, and cultural heritage.
Students will learn how to create bowls, vessels, mugs and other useful items. Decorative techniques will also be demonstrated.
This course is delivered once a week over a period of 8 weeks.
