About the Tutor

My name is Linda Robson Bell and originally I started out as a social worker/therapist working with all types of clients including: solo parents, children with cancer and their families, women dealing with domestic violence, people dealing with loss and grief, long term unemployment, housing issues, lack of basic resources, elderly people in hospital. Following on from that I specialised as a counsellor/therapist working with sexually abused children and their non-offending parents. Doing this led, not surprisingly, to a bout of burn out, a period of healing and a change of direction into the training and teaching of welfare staff and students, teachers, child care workers, police etc Even though I’d made that change I never left behind the memories of the courageous people I worked with and their stories. My next change of direction was a real shift that led to a Masters degree in Creative Writing. Now I was really taking my love of writing and creativity seriously. For the past 20 years I’ve been writing, teaching writing and coaching and that’ll be what I do until I can’t do it anymore. I’ve had numerous short stories published in literary journals and written and completely self-published 2 books: Bittersweet Short Stories and Writing from the Source
I taught myself how to do the whole process using the Ingramspark platform. I’ve taught lots of classes in creative writing, journal writing and life writing in social service organisations and community colleges. I then designed very successful 4 day writing retreats which I co-led many times at Quest for Life in Bundanoon headed up by the wonderful Petrea King.I’ve also written content for websites and worked as a real estate copywriter (writing the ads and editorials for real estate agencies) for agencies including Ray White and Belle Properties in Sydney. I’m currently writing my first novel which I aim to release within a year from now. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Work, Uni NSW and I am a Current Member of the Australia Assoc. of Social Workers (AASW). A Master of Arts (Creative Writing) Uni of Sydney, (awarded with Merit)as well as a Diploma of Arts (English Literature) Uni of Sydney. I also hold a TAE Cert IV TAFE, a Hart Life Coaching Certificate, a Certificate in Teaching Distance Education, TAFE Writing for Websites, Australian School of Copywriting.
