Provide CPR (HLTAID001) & Asthma/Anaphylaxis Refresher

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Nationally Accredited HLTAID001)

This nationally recognised course satisfies 1 Unit of Competency from the new HLT Health Training Package. It describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management (Non Accredited)

This course delivers the essentials principles, skills and knowledge in the first aid management of asthma and anaphylaxis.

  • Allergic reactions
  • Action plans for managing allergies
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPen and AnaPen)
  • Asthma management plan
  • Using asthma medications
  • Mild to moderate asthma
  • Severe asthma
  • Asthma first aid steps

Please note: The CPR component of this course is a nationally accredited unit of competency and requires pre course work and an assessment for the student to achieve competency. A statement of attainment will be issued upon completion of this unit. The asthma and anaphylaxis component is not accredited and is to simply review asthma and anaphylaxis management, there is no pre course work or assessment required for this component.

Online Theory Completion – Before Course Starts (CPR Component ONLY)

All students will have to complete an online theory course component as a prerequisite to completing the practical session. Students must complete the online theory before the class date – this will take approximately 1 hour. If students fail to complete this, they will not be eligible to attend the practical day. When you enrol for the course you will be sent login details to complete the theory section online – once completed students must print out the Certificate of Completion to hand to their trainer at the beginning of the practical day.

If internet access is an issue please contact the college on 9970 1000. Course fee includes a course manual which will be given to students at the practical day.

Please note: Students must be at least 14 years and 9 months of age to attend.

National Recognition

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - is a means of measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Any student who believes they may be eligible for RPL must apply for this at least two weeks prior to the course commencing. If you apply after the course commences it may not be accepted.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.

Assessments are made against units of competency.
