Basic Bookkeeping & MYOB

Learn basic bookkeeping and MYOB for you own business or job. This introductory course covers the fundamentals of bookkeeping and day to day financial transactions using MYOB. Includes Payroll Fundamentals. You will compete the following two units of competency from Certificate III in Business BSB30115 during the course:

Maintain Financial Records (BSBFIA301)

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to maintain financial records for a business. It includes maintaining daily financial records such as reconciling debtors' and creditors' systems, preparing and maintaining a general ledger, and preparing a trial balance. It also includes activities associated with monitoring cash control for accounting purposes.

Process payroll (BSBFIA302)

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to process payroll from provided data using manual and computerised payroll systems.This unit applies to individuals employed in a range of work environments who are responsible for payroll functions within an organisation. They may work as individuals providing administrative support within an enterprise, or may be other members of staff who have been delegated payroll responsibilities.

Please note: MYOB AccountRight 2017.2 is used in this course. MYOB have not updated their software for Mac, so this course is not suitable for those intending to use MYOB on a Mac computer. Additional $15 to purchase student edition software from MYOB for home use if required. Credit card details required for first session. Please note MYOB is now only available for Windows PCs.

National Recognition

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - is a means of measuring skills acquired through work or life experiences or through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Any student who believes they may be eligible for RPL must apply for this at least two weeks prior to the course commencing. If you apply after the course commences it may not be accepted.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015 it is a requirement of the Federal Government that all students undertaking nationally recognised training will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI – go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Please ensure when completing your enrolment information, that the details relating to your name are identical to those on the identification evidence used (eg passport or driver’s licence) when creating your USI eg no abbreviations or nicknames should be used.

Once created, it is important that you keep a record of your USI and access to your accredited training records in a safe place. You will need this information for any future enrolments into accredited training in Australia.
