Course Outline

This course is designed for students who have a little knowledge of the French language or for students who have studied 3 terms or equivalent at beginners 1 with Dominique or elsewhere and wish to improve their basic conversational skills and fluency in the language. We will start the term at page 80 of the textbook, Cosmopolite 1. (Dossier 4, leçon 4).This class will be held both face to face and through Zoom. Please contact the college if you wish to participate via Zoom in order to receive the invitation. If unsure if this course is suitable for you, we can put you in touch with the instructor to discuss your level.
Students wishing to enrol should be familiar with the following:
• Numbers
• How to ask questions : question words "qui, où, quand, est-ce que.., quel(l/le/s)"
• Verbs in the present tense : être, avoir, aller, prendre and regular verbs ending in ‘er’.
• Prepositions of location : à côté de, près de, sur, derrière…and à + city, en + fem. country, au + masc. country.
Culture, conversation and grammar will be covered in a social and stimulating environment. Expand your ability to deal with everyday situations (talking about family, sport, holidays and much more).
This course also will address pronunciation and intonation and will assist the student in making their trip to la belle France, be it for work or leisure purposes, much more engaging and exciting.
This class will be combined face to face and zoom class, please contact the college if you wish to participate via zoom to be sent the invitation. In addition please read the following paragraph

Virtual Classroom

Zoom is easy to use video conferencing software with a simple set up. You will be able to see your trainer and classmates and interact as though you were in the same room, all from the comfort of your own home!

This is what you need to join the Zoom class:

• Understanding the basics of using Zoom – see our free Zoom tutorial by clicking here.
• Access to a computer, iPad/tablet or smartphone; and
• A webcam* so that you can be seen by the trainer; and
• A microphone* so that you can participate in the class and be heard by the trainer; and
• A good Internet connection.

*If you have a laptop computer a webcam and microphone is usually built into the top of the screen frame. Smartphones and iPad/tablets also contain cameras and microphones.

About The Tutor

Dominique Partridge has been tutoring at Mosman Evening College and now at Northern Beaches & Mosman College for 20 years.
